This is a new course for grade 5 and 6 students.  For grade 5s, this (very) short course will introduce you to the computing environment of David Thompson School.  You’ll be able to log in and use any of our computers (and we have a lot of them in the school), be able to save and find your documents, use some common software applications, and learn how to use the Internet a bit better.

For grade 6s, this is a full term survey course.  During our five months together, you can expect to learn a little bit about:

• Data Management – how to save, find, backup, and use your own files
• Software – how to use Word, Excel, iPhoto, and other programs
• Photography – taking and editing pictures with your digital camera
• Video – shooting and editing video clips using iMovie
• Internet – learning how to find stuff and evaluate Websites and information that you find online.
• Robotics – an introduction to our Lego  NXT Robotics system
